WHO WE ARE
Indivisible Central Indiana is a respectful, inclusive, progressive ACTIVIST grassroots organization. We are dedicated to holding our own Indiana Members of Congress (MoCs) accountable for supporting our civil rights and economic values, at the local, state, and federal levels.
We are committed to:
-
Follow the principles and guidelines set forth in the https://www.indivisibleguide.com/, and actively collaborate with the Indivisible Team;
-
Actively collaborate with other groups working to promote these goals;
-
Engage in at least one ACTIVE behavior each week;
-
Create educational materials and provide training on techniques suggested in the https://www.indivisibleguide.com/; and
-
Sustain these activities until all Americans are assured of their inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The local chapter is comprised entirely of volunteers who responded to national Indivisible webinars in November and have been working to build an inclusive and responsive organization since then.
WHAT WE DO
Indivisible Central Indiana aspires to be the region’s Gateway to Activism. As the local chapter of the national Indivisible organization, we do sponsor and implement our own events; but we also simply promote activities of other organizations that are fighting the good fight locally. Bookmarking the Events page of this website and checking it frequently is a good way to find your niche. Meanwhile, Indivisible believes that Resistance can take many forms, but they fall into four categories: Defend Civic Institutions, Protect the Vulnerable, Disobey and Disrupt, and Build Alternatives. We are developing working teams to create programs within these categories. Holding our elected officials accountable, with office visits, town halls, appearances and testimony at legislative hearings, and orchestrated calling using 5Calls and other tools (Defending Civic Institutions). As the 2026 election cycle nears, we will work with parties and candidates to elect progressive candidates (Defending Civic Institutions). We will promote and, in some cases, organize purposeful, non-violent rallies, marches, and demonstrations (Disobey and Disrupt). We will put our economic leverage to use, supporting progressive businesses and promoting boycotts and divestiture at the national and local levels (Disobey and Disrupt). We will assemble resources (legal, financial, material, and otherwise) and partner with organizations that represent the populations who are being targeted by MAGA activities – immigrants, LGBTQ, women, and minorities (Protect the Vulnerable). There is something for everyone to do. Some things can be done very effectively from one’s home. Some things work best when we demonstrate power in numbers. We are developing working teams centering around issues – education, environment, health care, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ rights, reproductive rights, and general defense of democracy. Working teams focused on issues will collaborate with working teams developing expertise in tactics, to craft original local responses to our challenges. We also need teams to focus on communications and membership development. There will be opportunities for everyone to get involved.
